NADA Germany and DATEV Challenge Roth are committed to clean sport
65 doping tests were carried out at DATEV Challenge Roth 2025 / All 65 samples were negative
Fairness, credibility and transparency – DATEV Challenge Roth and the National AntiDoping Agency of Germany (NADA Germany) are jointly committed to these values. This year, this commitment was once again underlined: a total of 65 doping tests were carried out in an intensive testing campaign. This represented a significant increase in the number of doping tests carried out and sets a new benchmark in Roth.
All tests negative for both professionals and age groupers
The result of the extensive testing: all 65 tests were negative. “We would like to thank DATEV Challenge Roth for their excellent and supportive cooperation in promoting honest performance,” said NADA Germany’s chairman , Dr Lars Mortsiefer. "The use of the latest testing methods and the intensive testing campaign were successfully implemented to promote clean sport. As part of a holistic approach, we were also able to work together on prevention and education on-site to help protect athletes from doping”.
NADA Germany responsible for all testing
All tests were carried out independently and exclusively by NADA Germany. The race itself had no influence on the selection of athletes, nor the implementation of testing. The DATEV Challenge Roth team provided the infrastructure and around a dozen volunteers to ensure the testing ran smoothly.
“We asked NADA Germany in advance to explore the possibilities for extended testing. During our visit with them, we immediately sensed how openly and constructively our suggestion was received,” explained race director Felix Walchshöfer. "The fact that 65 tests were ultimately carried out sends a strong signal for clean sport. We are very grateful to NADA Germany for this. We are very pleased that all tests were negative. We will continue to work closely together in the future."
Innovation in action: Dried Blood Spot test
The high number of tests was made possible by a new technique that was used for the first time in Roth in 2025: the Dried Blood Spot test. This method complements traditional blood and urine samples and is faster, logistically easier to implement and significantly more efficient.
Focus on education
In addition to testing, education is also at the heart of the collaboration between DATEV Challenge Roth and NADA Germany. NADA Germany was represented at the triathlon expo with its own information stand for the ‘ALLES GEBEN, NICHTS NEHMEN’ (Give everything, take nothing) initiative, where athletes and visitors could ask questions directly and find out about anti-doping issues.
In addition, a special podcast episode was released in April, which provided age groupers in particular with practical information about risks, rules and responsibilities. A dedicated information page was also set up on the official race website, where participants could obtain comprehensive information in advance. Plus, on the day before the race, the media had the opportunity to talk to the NADA Germany Executive Board to gain a transparent understanding of the background, strategies and measures involved.
