€5,000 donated to the fire departments in the Roth district
€2,000 for the youth fire brigade and €3,000 for a new tension simulator
“Giving something back” – under this motto, Felix Walchshöfer, Race Director of the DATEV Challenge Roth, on behalf of the Challenge athletes, handed over €5,000 to the fire departments in the Roth district. The donation was presented during the open house celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Roth District Fire Brigade Association.
“Without the fire departments, our race simply wouldn’t be possible,” says Felix Walchshöfer, CEO of TEAMCHALLENGE. “They handle traffic control at numerous points along the course, ensuring a smooth and safe event for everyone. This donation is our heartfelt thank-you for their tremendous commitment – not just on race day, but throughout the year.”
€2,000 of the donation goes to the youth fire brigade in the Roth district, supporting their work with young people and encouraging them to get involved in firefighting.
€3,000 goes to the Roth district fire department for the purchase of a tension simulator, which will be available to all fire departments in the district. The tension simulator is a specialized training device for working with wood under tension. Firefighters can practice in realistic scenarios, learning to correctly assess compression and tension sides and identify stresses that occur in wind- or snow-damaged wood. This training helps firefighters recognize risks early and act safely – crucial for their own safety and that of the public.
Every year, numerous fire departments provide hundreds of personnel along the DATEV Challenge Roth course. They make an indispensable contribution to the safety of athletes, volunteers, and spectators, and are a vital part of the large triathlon community in Roth.
