The next big star
The current record holder has confirmed his participation at short notice
DATEV Challenge Roth race week is set to be marked by another sporting highlight: following Lucy Charles-Barclay’s last-minute confirmation, three-time winner Magnus Ditlev has now also confirmed his participation in the world’s largest long-distance triathlon.
Three-time winner returns
Ditlev has already won the race in the Roth triathlon district three times, setting new benchmarks on the fast course on several occasions. He currently holds the course record of 7:23:24 hours and won the race three times in a row from 2022 to 2024.
With his confirmation, the three-time Roth winner rounds off an already star-studded men’s field. With athletes such as Kristian Blummenfelt, Patrick Lange, Sam Laidlow and Jonas Schomburg, the international field is stronger than ever before.
Given his previous successes in Roth, Ditlev is once again considered one of the hot favourites for a top position.
Felix Walchshöfer is delighted by the Dane’s confirmation: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Magnus has agreed to take part at such short notice. Over the past few years, he has become an integral part of the Roth family and has put on some unforgettable races here. I wouldn’t have thought it possible, but with him on board, an already exceptionally strong men’s field is set to get even stronger. Our fans can look forward to one of the most exciting professional races we’ve ever seen in Roth.”
DATEV Challenge Roth will take place on Sunday, 5 July 2026. More than 3,500 individual competitors and around 700 relay teams will take on the legendary long-distance race. The full race will broadcast live at www.challenge-roth.com and the DATEV Challenge Roth YouTube channel with live English commentary from Belinda Granger and Sebastian Kienle.
