ROTH Debut Announcement: Kristian Høgenhaug Aims for the World Record
‘I just want to beat the best Danish time ever in Roth.’ / Danish long-distance pro kicks off professional announcements for Roth
Here we go: With Kristian Høgenhaug (DEN), the DATEV Challenge Roth team is kicking off the professional starting field announcement for the race on 5 July with a real top star of the scene. The 34-year-old Dane will compete in Roth for the first time this year and has a clear goal: to break the best Danish time in Roth, which means nothing less than attacking the current world record of 7:23:24 set in Roth by his compatriot Magnus Ditlev.
Clear goal in sight
‘I just want to beat the best Danish time ever in Roth,’ the Dane explains confidently. About the race itself, he says: ‘This has always been a bucket list race for me. I expect an atmosphere unlike anywhere else I've raced, and I'm sure it'll be an unforgettable experience.’
Høgenhaug is one of the most consistent long-distance athletes internationally. He finished a strong third in the Ironman Pro Series rankings in both 2024 and 2025.
He was crowned World Triathlon Long Distance Champion at Challenge Almere-Amsterdam in 2021 and celebrated an impressive victory at The Championship in Šamorín in 2025. Høgenhaug is also a regular contender at the front of Ironman races: he finished a strong second at the Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt in 2025.
Now his sights are set on Roth: in front of the enthusiastic supporters, Høgenhaug not only wants to prove his skills, but also challenge his compatriot's world record. On 5 July, we will see whether he will achieve his goal at the Triathlon Park in Roth.
Kristian Høgenhaug officially kicks off the professional field in Roth in 2026. Over the next 2.5 weeks, DATEV Challenge Roth will publish more exciting top-class athletes on its Instagram channel (@challengeroth) every day who will make it another year to remember at the Home of Triathlon in 2026.
