Fairness, credibility, and transparency are hallmarks of the DATEV Challenge Roth. In 2026, the commitment to a clean and fair competition was once again consistently upheld in collaboration with the National Anti-Doping Agency of Germany (NADA): A total of 56 doping tests were conducted at this year’s event. NADA has now informed the organizer that all tests came back negative.
Clean Sport Is a Shared Responsibility

Implementing the various anti-doping measures is an important part of our joint efforts to promote clean sport. The DATEV Challenge Roth sets a good example in this regard and, in our view, serves as a model for how organizers can take responsibility for fairness and equal opportunity. Especially at such a significant international event, this commitment sends an important signal to all athletes who compete honestly and fairly to achieve their personal bests,” says Dr. Lars Mortsiefer, Chairman of the NADA Executive Board.
The testing was directed at both professional athletes and age-groupers. The tests were conducted independently by NADA. The event organizer had no influence on the selection of athletes, nor on the conduct or evaluation of the tests. The DATEV Challenge Roth team supports NADA by providing the necessary on-site infrastructure and logistics, thereby ensuring that everything runs smoothly.
The latest figures from NADA also underscore the importance of anti-doping efforts in triathlon. According to the NADA annual report, a total of 841 samples were collected in 2025 across triathlon, duathlon, and para-triathlon. Of these, 803 samples were from triathlon. A large portion of the testing was conducted via blood samples.
As a result, triathlon remains one of the sports in which NADA conducts a high volume of testing. In total, NADA carried out 12,145 doping tests across all sports in 2025, involving 16,911 samples.
NADA and DATEV Challenge Roth Work Closely Together
“We want to provide NADA with the best possible conditions for its work. We are very pleased that all the tests came back negative. It sends an important message to all athletes who are competing here honestly and fairly to achieve their personal bests,” explains Race Director Felix Walchshöfer.
Testing and prevention go hand in hand
In addition to doping tests, education also plays an important role. NADA was again present at the DATEV Challenge Roth triathlon expo in 2026 to answer questions from athletes. The collaboration between NADA and DATEV Challenge Roth therefore encompasses not only testing but also providing information and raising awareness among athletes.
The DATEV Challenge Roth and NADA intend to continue this collaboration in the future and work together to promote fair conditions and a credible, clean triathlon sport.
