Alice Walchshöfer awarded the Frankenwürfel 2025 award
A great honor for Alice Walchshöfer: The driving force behind the DATEV Challenge Roth was today awarded the Frankenwürfel 2025 at Schloss Werneck. The prestigious award is presented annually to individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the Franconia region.
The Frankenwürfel represents the typical Franconian character – “resourceful, witty, and full of contrasts” – and has been awarded since 1985 to people whose work shapes the region and gives it a friendly, authentic face.
Alice Walchshöfer was recognized by Dr. Kerstin Engelhardt-Blum, President of the Middle Franconia district. The award for Upper Franconia went to honorary district farmer Rosie Kraus, and for Lower Franconia to cult cabaret artist Otmar “Oti” Schmelzer.
“It is a great honor to receive the Frankenwürfel. I do not see this award as mine alone, but accept it on behalf of all the incredible people who contribute every day with passion, dedication, and heart to make triathlon in Roth possible. Without the athletes, volunteers, partners, and our entire team, this would not be possible. Together, we shape the DATEV Challenge Roth like no one else,” said Alice Walchshöfer.
With her family, the entire organizing team, and all supporters, Alice Walchshöfer has developed the DATEV Challenge Roth into a globally recognized triathlon brand. Under her leadership, the race stands for professionalism, emotion, and warmth – while remaining deeply rooted in the region. Her work combines international appeal with Franconian authenticity.
“This award is a wonderful recognition of what Alice Walchshöfer has built over the years with so much heart,” says the DATEV Challenge Roth organizing team. “She embodies everything that Franconia and the Roth triathlon stand for: passion, reliability, and humanity.”
The Frankenwürfel was presented at a ceremonial event hosted by the Franconian district presidencies.
