The Final Countdown in Heideck

The Final Countdown in Heideck

While others were already in their beds in order to be on time for the swim start and to be fit for the big race day, in Heideck things were happening. The city once again hosted together with BAYERN 3 the largest countdown-party on the marketplace. The volunteer firemen from the city took care of the bar with beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Several food booths offered spectators bratwurst and pizza. Around 8:30 p.m. BAYERN 3-DJ Tonic started playing music. Attracted by the hum of the beats people streamed in swarms from all directions towards the marketplace.

None of the top athletes made it on stage this year because of cancellations due to illnesses. Since Belinda Granger will moderate the livestream tomorrow from Munich, she couldn't make it to Heideck. The mayor, Ralf Beyer doesn't see this as a reason for a bad atmosphere, "We will still have a wonderful party here", he said and gave the microphone over to DJ Tonic (Frank Eickenbusch). "A hearty welcome to all, we will get started now, please come to the front!", he called into the audience. He didn't need to repeat himself, people danced late into the night to the sounds of actual and older hits in the haze of disco lights.
