Advertorial: Fast disc: DT Swiss launches ARC 1100 DICUT DISC

With the newly developed DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT DISC, the Swiss producer has completed its collection of aero road wheel lineup. Triathletes and time trial specialists can now select to perfect setup depending on the racecourse topology and wind conditions. The ARC 1100 DICUT DISC composes of the best values of aero dynamics, modern disc brake technology, tubeless ready construction, a wider rim shape for wider tires and more comfort, individual design, and the best DT Swiss technology.

The muffled humming of a carbon disc motivates triathletes to give the extra punch and additional effort to push harder on the pedals. However, there are hard facts from the wind tunnel, which promote the rear wheel disc, as it has the sufficiently better values on aerodynamics compared to high-profile rims. Flat courses and circuits with easy to moderately steep climbs, as they often occur in triathlon, are the ideal area of usage and application. Especially since the new DT Swiss disc is light and has a weight of only 1,100 grams and excellent lateral stiffness, which should perform exceptionally on steep ramps.

The fastest setup

Compared to the quickest high-profile rims with two 80mm ARC 1100 DICUT rims, the combination of an 80mm front wheel and the ARC 1100 DICUT DISC saves additionally 1,8 watts. The best “dragging effect” being generated with stronger lateral airflow.

Thanks to the braking disc technology already present on all new time trial bikes, the shape of the rim could be made significantly wider and now measures 20mm inside width. Tires between 25 – 32 mm can be driven. The setup has been optimized for 28mm wide tires.

Wider tires: More comfort and less rolling friction

Advantages: You can drive with lower tire pressure and significantly increased comfort. When using tubeless tires, the advantages in comfort and rolling resistance are even increased. Especially over longer distances, from middle to long distance, you will have to compensate from less hits and strokes from uneven roads. Therefore, the body will be fresher for the running course.

Inside the disc is composed of only the best possible DT Swiss technology. A 180 DICUT hub with Ratchet EXP system is used. The ultra-lightweight SINC ceramic bearings provide optimum rolling behavior and maximum reliability.

As a disc wheel is always an eye catcher in the transition zone, DT Swiss has taken care and attention of the design. The decals are available in four different bold designs. Next to the classic DT Swiss red, there is a classic white or a decent black styling available. For the victory attracted competitors there is also a golden version.

The best DT Swiss athletes have already extensively tested the ARC DICUT DISC:

Daniela Ryf: “I see long distance triathlons with flat or well rolling bike courses as the ideal application of the ARC 1100 DICUT DISC. For example the Ironman 70.3 Dubai, the Ironman 70.3 St. George and the Ironman Tulsa, where I competed in spring 2021.”

Anne Haug: “I was surprised how light the disc wheel is. This means that the range of usage is significantly wider and you can benefit from the aero advantages more easily and often. That’s why I will certainly us the new rear wheel disc on more mountainous bike tracks with technically difficult descents. Preconditioned it is not extremely windy.”

The price of the new DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT DISC is 2,238 EUR.
