DATEV Challenge Roth expands support for female athletes
At DATEV Challenge Roth 2025, it’s not just about breaking records – it’s also about raising standards for well-being, equality, and inclusion. With a series of new measures focusing on hygiene, privacy and visibility, we’re taking the next clear step toward lived fairness in triathlon.
New: Ladycare boxes with hygiene products at all key stations
For the first time, all aid stations along the bike and run course, both transition zones (T1 & T2), and the large festival tent in the Triathlon Park will be equipped with so-called Ladycare Boxes. These provide free and easy access to sanitary pads, tampons, and wet wipes – discreet, uncomplicated and always available.
With this, we’re responding to a need that’s often overlooked – and making a clear statement for inclusion, visibility, and respect in our sport.
More privacy and comfort in sensitive moments
All shower and changing facilities will now feature clearly separated areas for women and men. Additionally, the protected changing area in Transition Zone 1 will be significantly expanded – creating a more respectful and comfortable space for all participants, and especially for female athletes. Because a sense of security and consideration matters just as much off the race course.
Fairness across the board
These updates are part of our comprehensive sustainability efforts – which also include our strong commitment to gender equality.
At DATEV Challenge Roth, our prize purse of over €160,000 has always been split equally between women and men – a matter of course for us.
But equality goes far beyond prize money: We genuinely want to see more women discover this incredible sport and experience the magic of Roth for themselves.
One strong step in this direction is our Sub10 category for women, introduced in 2022 as the counterpart to the long-standing Sub9 program for men. Every female athlete who finishes in under 10 hours receives her entry fee back – a meaningful gesture of appreciation and a strong incentive to take on the challenge and go beyond.
Moving forward together – for a race that includes everyone
With these steps, we don’t just want to set standards – we want to listen, learn, and grow together.
Because DATEV Challenge Roth is all about community – the athletes, our 7,500 volunteers, and everyone who brings the unique spirit of this race to life every single year.
