Camping

One week before the Challenge a provisional campsite is opened in a marked area in the direct vicinity of the swim start, where tents can be put up free of charge. The provisional campsite is closed a few days after the race. Furthermore, there is a campsite in Wallesau that can be used all year.

Cancellation

Unfortunately you cannot take part in the Challenge although you have already signed in? What a pity, but perhaps you will be able to take part next year. You should cancel your participation by April 30, and we will reimburse the start fee except for a service charge of 60 €. For cancellations received after that date it will unfortunately not be possible to reimburse the start fee.

The easiest way to cancel your participation is to write an e-mail here.

Carbo Party

Always takes place on Friday evening before the race from 6 to 8 pm at the Challenge pavilion. For athletes the entrance fee is included in the start fee. If you would like to bring your family or friends, you can obtain further tickets when you get your start documents at the registration office. The tickets cost € 15 each, but there is only a limited number.

Check-in (bike)

Bike check-in traditionally takes place the day before the race at transition zone I, usually between 1 and 6 p.m. There is no particular order for the check-in.

As an athlete you must bring the following things:

  • your race bike including start number mounted to the frame
  • bike helmet including start number sticker
  • blue bag containing running clothes
  • transponder for time-keeping

ATTENTION

The blue bag can only be deposited during the bike check-in on Saturday. Deposition is no longer possible on race day.

In addition, relay teams should observe the following:

On Saturday the relay cyclist must check-in his/her bike including the helmet (both must be marked with the start number as is the case for individual starters) and the transponder.

Members of relay teams do not have to check-in any bags on Saturday! The bags of the relay teams are deposited in the respective transition zones on race day. For further details please be referred to B as in bag check-in!

Drugs test

An extremely important issue, and not only since the incidents at the 2004 IM Hawaii and several occurrences at the IM Germany as well as the 2006 Tour de France. So TEAMChallenge GmbH and the DTU have tried to develop and enforce strict rules. This means that the top 3 male and female athletes as well as another three athletes (men and women) among the top 20 are tested for drugs. In addition further participants from the remaining field of starters are chosen by random generator and tested for prohibited substances. And numerous top athletes have agreed to have unannounced tests carried out throughout the year world-wide.
