Last Important Messages/Rules For Competitors and Accompanists as Supplement to the Race Directors’ Conference

(Page 1 – 5 “CHALLENGERS”, Page 6 -7 “Relays”, Page 8 “General”)

Please observe this information exactly, in addition to all the information printed in the official program:

1)  The following regulations of the authorizing bodies are binding for the race, especially the
     cycling course:

a)  Competitors and drivers of official accompanying vehicles must strictly observe the official
traffic regulations (StVO) - especially staying on the right side of the road.

b)  The organizer has the right to disqualify competitors and official accompanists from the race,
who have not observed the traffic regulations of the StVO, or repeatedly abuse and disobey
police orders. The organizer reserves the right to refuse the competitor further participation, if
the police require this. The police will take into account the danger of the situation before
     making their decision.

c)  Before the race starts, the organizer must give a list of all competitors allowed to start to the
police staff involved, including their respective start numbers. Every competitor must wear his
start number in a way that it can easily be recognized.

d) Spraying, painting, marking or writing on the roadway, on traffic signs, trees,
signs, posts or elsewhere is strictly prohibited.

2)  To ensure optimum supervision and security of traffic conditions the police will use cones and
flares and will be supported by workers of the voluntary fire department. The coordination
office is located at the Roth Police Station, Hilpoltsteiner Straße 30.

3)  Bicycles and helmets (with start number stickers) must be checked in on Saturday, July 11th,
together with the clothing bag (running clothes - green) at the swim start. It is absolutely
important to bring your transponder with you! Check-in for bikes will be possible between
     1 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.

The clothing bag for bike clothes (red) is to be checked in on Sunday, July 12th, before the start until 06.45 a.m. or to be put correctly according to the start number in front of the transition tent.

The blue clothing bag, (for street clothes) may be checked in directly at the swim start on race day, July 12th. The green clothing bag (running clothes) cannot be checked in anymore, see number 3.

All participants (except relay teams) must leave the transition zone swimming/cycling by 7:00 a.m. on race day and proceed to the start area.

4) Please observe that the German Sports Regulations require the following: “Each
    participant
is obliged to use a bicycle that is in a technically faultless condition
    to avoid jeopardizing
other persons. Bar end shifters are allowed according to
ITU rules. Brake levers must point
backwards.

5)   At 11.20 a.m. the traffic coming from Eckersmühlen to Roth will be detoured via Belmbrach.
Due to limited parking facilities we urgently recommend to task the parking facilities in the
industrial area. From there a shuttle bus will running every 20 min. to the transition
zone/finish-line area and the “Lände Roth” (running course).

If an athlete should decide to quit the race during the swim leg he has to report immediately to a race director or the DTU-course marshals. If this does not happen and rescue operations occur, the athlete will be responsible for all costs.

Infopoint: On race day morning, there will be a special information desk within transition area I. If there are special questions before the start they will be answered there.

Because of the expected high traffic, we recommend arrival for all athletes by 4.50 a.m. Please use the following route: Roth - Eckersmühlen - Hilpoltstein - direction Allersberg to Heuberg.

For parking facilities please see the program booklet. Depending on the location of the parking lots, a 15 to 20 minute walk to the swim start must be taken into account.

Orders from the official personnel and the police must be strictly observed!

Please observe the signs where parking is absolutely prohibited.

7) Please do not camp in meadows/fields, on parking lots in Roth or in the area
    directly located at
the Rothsee or the Main-Donau-Canal. There are camping
facilities in Wallesau and at the

    swimmstart.

8) As regards the official training times in the Main-Donau-Canal and the Special
    Conditions
relating thereto, please be referred to the last page. During swim training

avoid accidents, competitors must wear light-colored swim caps or those issued by the
    organizer when training.

9) Training on race day is only allowed in the marked area, outside the official race
    course,
before entering the starting area.  Each start group will be called; when

clothes, red) themselves.

11)   Competitors have the opportunity to provide themselves with supplies at the following
        points:

        must be worn

        The
transponder is to be worn under the neoprene/wet-suit. In case of loss of
        the transponder
during the race, time-taking is not possible any more which
        leads to the participant’s
disqualification.

Bike numbers are to be attached so that they can be read from the left-hand
        side (riding
direction). The helmet start numbers are to be mounted so they
        can be seen from the
front, left and the right.

The white competitor’s wrist band for individual starters is to be worn on

Attention: Swim training in the M-D-Canal

The Main-Donau-Canal is a state owned waterway that is mainly used for boating and ships. Since boat and ship traffic increases every year, swimming in the Main-Donau-Canal is generally forbidden. The swim course will be closed to all ships and boats during the Quelle Challenge Roth on July 12th, 2009.

The swim course will be open for training during the following hours only.  Ships and boats will be stopped at this time.

Friday, July 10th, from 6:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.

Saturday, July 11th, from 6:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.

Since it is extremely hazardous, even life-threatening to swim outside the swim course and outside the above mentioned hours, training can only be held during the above-mentioned hours on the official race course.

Athletes who do their swim training outside these hours or outside the official swim course will not be allowed to participate in the Quelle Challenge Roth on July 12th 2009.

We ask for your cooperation and understanding in this matter, as it is your safety that counts.

We wish all the participants a successful race and a wonderful time in Roth.

Yours TEAMChallenge
