Kick-off weekend a huge success – charity swim raises 3,300 Euro
The sun was shining and hundreds of enthusiastic Challenge fans spent the weekend in Roth for the big Kick-Off with Challenge Women Active Day, charity swimming and the sunset course recce. It was the perfect start for this year's DATEV Challenge Roth which takes place on 9 July!
Fun at Challenge Women Active Day
On Saturday morning the Challenge Women Active Day started with bright sunshine and 25 motivated women led by professional triathlete Wenke Kujala. After the warm-up, participants received valuable pro running tips while the walkers had the chance to train with Smovey instructor Anja Grabendorfer. One of the day’s highlights the nutritious breakfast buffet from Sparkasse Mittelfranken-South. Overall a great fun day with of course great anticipation for Challenge Women on July 8th.
Herzpflaster charity welcomes donation
Under the motto "every lap counts", the warm sunny afternoon featured the popular charity swim in the Roth municipal pool, raising funds for Herzpflaster, a non-profit charitable organization supporting children with heart disease. Each raising money per lap, 176 swimmers included celebrities such as Mayor Ralph Edelhäußer, Mayor Hans Raithel, long distance swimmer Mirjam Schall and Hans Jürgen Rohmer from the Board of Sparkasse Mittelfranken -South. This year's "lap record", was set by Mark Tompkins from Wuppertal. With great music, a delicious fingerfood buffet from TSG 08 Roth, a Smovey demonstration and discounted admission to the leisure pool, the summer mood was perfect! After the event, Alice Walchshöfer handed over the 3,300 euro charity donation to the Verein Herzpflaster

More than 300 participants on course
The Sunday highlight of the Kick-Off Weekend was the tour with the Professional Endurance Team and TEAMCHALLENGE. More than 300 athletes also took advantage of this year's opportunity to try out and familiarise themselves with the DATEV Challenge Roth bike and new run course in the warm, dry weather. Over 25 motorbike drivers in Challenge-Waiting-Waters accompanied the bike groups and secured the roads. Among the 28 guides were also the top athletes Timo Bracht, Christian Brader and Maurice Clavel to the delight of many athletes. All three have a lot resting on 9th July! Among the "special guests" was wheel legend Fritz Briealler and Squeezy boss Roger Milenk, who also provided Squeezy products for the athletes' to test and responded to questions. ERDINGER was also there with its alcohol-free beer and run sponsor New Balance had its latest shoes, eagerly trialled on the new course. While triathlon mayor Ralph Edelhäußer didn’t take part, he was there to greet the athletes. Overall, the triathletes had a great day with many happy and satisfied faces. All round, a successful start to DATEV Challenge Roth on 9th July!
