Honorary Prize for the Walchshöfers
Award for their services to sports in the region of Central Franconia

What a pleasure in Roth: The Walchshöfer family, organizers of DATEV Challenge Roth, was recently awarded the Honorary Sports Prize of the District of Central Franconia in the category “Generations” for services to sports in the region. At the award ceremony in Ansbach, which was attended by the President of the District Council, Richard Bartsch, and the former Bavarian Premier Dr. Günther Beckstein, the President of the Bavarian Sporting Association, Günther Lommer, and the District Chairman of the Bavarian Sporting Association, Jörg Ammon, were happy to award the prize to the Walchshöfers, who, since 2002, have been the organizers of what has meanwhile become the world’s biggest long-distance triathlon event. One reason for awarding the prize to the Walchshöfers was that DATEV Challenge Roth is now organized by the family in second generation and has been constantly enhanced.

None other than Dr. Robert Mayr, designated Chairman of the Board of Management of DATEV, gave the laudatory speech for the award winners. As a representative of the title sponsor of Bavaria’s biggest one-day sports event, the future head of DATEV expressed his delight about the feeling of togetherness that existed in the whole region. He said he considered the Roth triathlon event to be an “outstanding sports highlight”. And he told the Walchshöfer family:”People who have the ability to fill others with enthusiasm, can create great things.”

After having received the award, Challenge CEO Alice Walchshöfer explicitly referred to the 6,000 volunteers, who contribute significantly to the success of DATEV Challenge Roth every year. In line with the “Generations” category of the prize she said: “I am especially proud of our volunteers, as many of them have been supporting our event for generations with all of their enthusiasm.”
