Selingstädter Berg
Probably number two among Franconia’s most famous hills after the Solarer Berg. The Selingstädter Berg is located near Heideck and there are thousands of spectators and volunteers who cheer the athletes up the hill all day long.

Shuttle bus
We are still working on the concept, but as soon as it has been completed, all relevant information will be available on this website.

Slipstreaming
Slipstreaming has always been prohibited and will be punished severely. A minimum distance of approx. 10 m must always be kept to the athlete in front. It is also prohibited to ride within 3 m to the right or left of a fellow athlete over a prolonged period of time.

Solarer Berg
It’s Franconia’s most famous hill and also a synonym for the fascination of triathlon in Roth. Every athlete who has ever climbed that hill only once during the CR, and has made his way through the crowds of enthusiastic spectators, is inadvertently infected with the triathlon virus! This is something you just have to experience!

Spectators’ round-trip
Begin your round-trip at the swim start, then go to the Solarer Berg in Hilpoltstein (bike km 72), go back across the town of Hilpoltstein to the road leading to the swim start (bike km 84), then return to the Solarer Berg (bike km 157) and finally back to the road leading to the swim start again (bike km 169).
Then you might go to the Canal via Eckersmühlen. At the Canal choose the side opposite the running course and go to the bridge where the street between Roth and Allersberg crosses the Canal (run km 4, directly next to the landing stage). Continue your round-trip on the Eastern side of the Canal until you reach the Leerstetten sluice gate (run kms 11 and 14), then return to the previous bridge (run km 20) and back to the Eckersmühlen Canal bridge (run kms 23, 28, 32, 36). After that you should hurry up to reach the finish-line area before the first athletes arrive.
The above-mentioned round-trip for spectators is mostly away from the race course, so that you will not disturb the athletes during the race. Except for some sections in and around Eckersmühlen which are actually on the bike or run course, so make sure you take care of the athletes there.
If you use a bike on the round-trip described above it should be possible to be at the various stops in time to watch a specific athlete.
If you use your car, things are getting a bit more complicated, but many places mentioned above may be reached by car/on foot as well. If you want to go to the Leerstetten sluice gate, leave the B2 road at the “Rednitzhembach” exit. The local fire service will be closing off the road to Schwanstetten, but you can drive directly to the run course, and there is even a meadow where parking is allowed.

Starters (number of)
Each year we have to reject athletes who would have liked to take part in the Challenge Roth. But for reasons of space and safety we cannot accept more than 550 relay teams and 2,400 individual starters for the race.
Since the start places are often booked up within a very short time, you should sign in for the next race as soon as possible, preferably shortly after the current race. For the 2006 competition we had to close the relay list already in October 2005 and the places for individual starters were also booked up in December.

Start groups
At the Challenge Roth the start takes place in 9 start groups, the two last groups being relay groups. The allocation of the start group depends on the swim and finishing times indicated in each athlete’s application. Here’s the swim start schedule:

Start licence
Each participant (individual starter) must have a valid licence of a national triathlon association. Otherwise athletes can obtain a licence of the day at a price of € 10, which will be handed out together with the start documents.
ATTENTION
It will not be possible to take part in the German Championship with a licence of the day!

Start number
The start numbers will be handed out together with the start documents at the registration office and may not be changed in any way.
For cycling athletes will have to wear the start numbers on their backs, for running on the front of their shirts.
In addition, a start number must also be attached to the bike.

Sub 9
In Roth there are as many athletes who finish in less than 9 hours as nowhere else in the world. Each athlete who indicates that he or she intends to finish in less than 9 hours in his/her application and really succeeds will be reimbursed the start fee, except for a € 99 service charge, and will get a special finisher shirt at the finish-line.
Swim course
Start and finish of the swim course are located at the Hilpoltstein landing stage. Swimmers start towards the south of the course. There’s a turning mark after 1.9 km. Finish is located below the Hilpoltstein-Allersberg canal bridge.

Swim start
In order to ensure a smooth start of the 2,200 individual starters and 550 relay starters, athletes have always started the race in several groups at intervals.
As to the start groups and the corresponding start times, please be referred to S as in start groups.
