The Challenge race series will stay host to the Official European Championships of the European Triathlon Union ETU next year as well. ETU President Renato Bertrandi announced this during the final press conference at the 11th Challenge Roth which hosted the Official ETU Long Distance Triathlon European Championships for the first time on July 8, 2012. According to Bertrandi it was an „amazing competition“. Four weeks earlier Challenge Kraichgau had hosted the successful European Championships in Half Distance Triathlon.

In 2013 Challenge Barcelona (Half distance, May 26, 2013) and Challenge Vichy (Long Distance, August 18, 2013) will be hosts to the Official ETU European Championships in the respective distance. „I am proud and happy about the fruitful cooperation with the Challenge Family and am looking forward to continuing our cooperation,“ said Bertrandi. The high quality of the competitions under the Challenge label and the incredible atmosphere at the races had left a lasting impression.
