13.09.2007: Challenge France: Top field of starters and already more than 350 applications

Nine months before the first Challenge France will take place in Niederbronn-les-bain/Alsace on May 25, 2008, a more than respectable number of athletes have already signed up: More than 350 applications of individual starters and ten applications of relay teams have already been received by the race organizers. They expect the limit of 1,000 individual starters will be reached by the end of the year. So far, athletes from ten nations have made their applications, with almost equal numbers from France and Germany. Put together, the starters from these two countries account for approx. half of the starters so far. In addition, athletes from the US, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Great Britain, Belgium, Poland and Switzerland have signed up until now. Apart from the professional organisation by Guy Hemmerlin, one reason for the considerable interest in the new event is definitely the attractive race course, which leads through parts of the lovely Alsatian scenery and the natural park of the Northern Vosges. The field of top starters will be a guarantee for an exciting race: The French triathlon stars Damien Favre-Felix, fastest French athlete in several races at the Quelle Challenge Roth, and Francois Chabaud, as well as the female starters Estelle Patou and Alexandra Louison, winner of the IM Nice, are going to enjoy home track advantage at the Challenge France. And no one less than Belinda and Justin Granger as well as Orca Challenge Wanaka winner Luke Dragsta are going to come from overseas.

For applications received by the end of this year there will be a special prize of € 110 for individual starters. Online application forms are available at the Challenge France homepage.
