1 Pyraser Beer Mile Eckersmühlen

It is one of the oldest Hot Spots on the bike course. Right at the crossing (the athletes turn left two times in the direction of Wallesau and right in the direction of the bike-run transition) the athletes will be welcomed by name while the spectators receive the latest information of the race. The team of the local sports clubs will offer you music and entertainment with grilled sausages, cool drinks as well as coffee and cake in the beer garden. Powered by N-Ergie one can charge your phone at the information point.

2 Heideck

The town of Heideck is once again part of the Challenge Family. The whole town will be on its feet, cheering on every athlete and carrying them through the streets of Heideck. The ones who know the people of Heideck know the Challenge feeling is alive here.

3 The 200 meters of Thalmässing

This hotspot has existed ever since the beginning of long-distance triathlon in Roth: “The 200 Meters of Thalmässing”, which is organized by the local sports club. Thalmässing is a little village with a big heart for triathlon: Many well-known athletes such as Faris Al Sultan and Thomas Hellriegel have already taken part for the local sports club in the world’s biggest long-distance triathlon event. This year again, triathletes from Thalmässing will be cheered on most enthusiastically on the legendary “200 Meters”, as they are the local heroes. This is where the 11 kilometers “racetrack” starts until the athletes reach the next hotspot, the Kalvarienberg in Greding. The presenters will welcome them by name and with some great party music.

4 Kalvarienberg

At Kalvarienberg, the “hill of pains” with the steepest climb on the whole Challenge bike course, the local sports club and the Town of Greding organize a hotspot. From 8 a.m. to approx. 2.30 p.m. the citizens of Greding and many visitors cheer on the athletes. Presenter Max Dorner and his co-presenter Franziska Fink and Carsten Wink entertain the spectators with the latest news of the race, cool music and a great atmosphere. In order to get into the right mood for the race, spectators may enjoy the performances of the “Chinelos” samba group and the cheergirls of the local carnival club.

 

5 Obermässing

In Obermässing one of the new hot spots is located right in the middle of the town, directly at the left bend of the main street, opposite of the local inn. The hot spot is organized by the Obermässing fire brigade and numerous volunteers. Spectators can take a seat at the beer benches and watch the race. There will also be barbecue, coffee and home-made cakes as well as cool drinks.

6 Pretzel Mile Eysölden

In Eysölden every biker from the first to the last will be cheered. The Pretzel Mile of the local bakery itself participates with four relays and two single starters which increases the excitement. Spectators can cheer for their athletes themselves via microphone with their favorite Song as a highlight to create an unforgettable passage through the town.  The fire department of Eysölden will provide information to help everyone to recognize the athletes. Spectators can enjoy Pretzels, Bavarian white sausages, burgers, cakes, Bavarian doughnuts and cool drinks thanks to Pyraser.

7 Kränzleinsberg

On the Kränzleinsberg the fire department of Hofstetten with the presenters Jürgen Moosmann and Benny Seitz welcomes the athletes with great music. In a friendly atmosphere with grilled sausages, cool drinks, coffee and cake the spectators can cheer on the athletes right next to the course.

8 Solar Hill

The highlight in Hilpoltstein is Solar Hill with its “La Ola del Solar” Tour-de-France-Feeling. The heart is the stage on which sports presenter André Siems und DJ Thomas Glas of radio station Bayern 3 will heat up the place by cheering and cool music. Major Markus Mahl and Sigi Tretbar together with the team of the city of Hilpoltstein will provide the spectators with current race news while a big clock on the hill provide the race time. As a special guest no other than famous Jan Frodeno will wait for you! The drummer youth of Hilpoltstein will bring you the right beat. Next to the track the Pyraser beer garden will care for you with cool drinks. Other highlights are the balloon contest for kids sponsored by the Hilpoltstein News as well as a bouncy castle by the Hilpoltstein fire department.

9 Mörlach – KLJB race course party

One of the latest Hot Spots is Mörlach with the KLJB race course party by fans for fans. Organized by the local youth and the Mörlach fire department, you can cheer on the athletes while enjoying barbecue specialties and drinks as well as coffee and cake in a great atmosphere.

10 Hilpoltstein, AWO

The Hot Spot at the bike course in Hilpoltstein is officially taking place for the third time this year. At the AWO social competence center, at the delivery entrance as well as in the nearby parking lots at Altstadtring, spectators are welcomed with bratwursts, drinks and sitting accommodations. Together with the inhabitants, they can receive the latest race news and cheer on the athletes on the front line.

 

11 Hilpoltstein, Allersberger Straße

At Allersberger Straße in Hilpoltstein, near Buchstaller bike shop, the members of the Hilpoltstein bike club will provide the spectators with current race facts, especially regarding local athletes. The stand of Café Grimm will offer many specialties.

1 Espan Hill

The Hot Spot organized by Team Klinikum e.V. is right in the heart of the run course with a great atmosphere and loud support. The spectators will experience a familiar flair with a lot of music and noise. Like last year there will be live music by the locally known band “Crimson”. Moreover, there will be current race news, seats as well as food and drinks provided by a bistro and a bakery nearby. Whether right at the beginning of the marathon, while swinging forth and back between the landing stage and Roth’s inner city and Büchenbach as well as right bevor the last and most beautiful meters of the race: at this Hot Spot everyone is warmly welcomed!

2 At Nüssli it’s going to be WÜST

Start the run direction landing stage and the way back towards Roth inner city with a new load of motivation, some refreshing and lots of cheering! The team of haulage Wüst does everything so that you can experience a unique Challenge experience at the hot spot in front of Nüssli corporation right after the transition area. There will be a six metres high container construction built by the logistic professionals. Every passing runner will experience an integrated shower. On the top of the construction there is a DJ who shakes a leg. Besides, the spectators are provided with the latest race information and a catering team is offering food and drinks. This will be cool and hot – all in one hot spot!

3 Hot Spot Speck Pumpen at the Roth Landing Stage

As in previous years with its Hot Spot at their company site Speck Pumpen again offers a colorful program for everyone. The change of the running course makes the Hot Spot by Speck even more interesting and attractive. The athletes will now walk through the site at the industrial area “An der Lände” four times. Restaurant Winkler from Alfershausen will care for the spectators with Franconian specialties. While the adults can relax in the beer garden the kids can play in a bouncy castle and test their sportive abilities at stations to play. Torsten Hahn, multiple Challenge participant and Speck employee, will inform the spectators with all his experience about the status of the race and heat up the place with rock and pop music.

NEW 4 Running Team Fürth

NEW: The brand new Hot Spot of the Laufteam Fürth 2010 e.V. is here. Though still fresh in the triathlon circus but very well-known, the boys and girls like to heat up the place. The athletes should get the feeling to fly on their kilometers 4,5/ 6,5/ 25 and 27. A great DJ and a moderation duo which is already known from other sports events will bring up their best Franconian talk to entertain not only the athletes but also the spectators. You get there by car via the landing stage Roth.

5 Canal Roth

The Hot Spot of sluice Leerstetten has moved because of the new run course and is now located at the landing stage Roth. Here too, the athletes are supported to show their best performance. All fans of the former Hot Spot Sluice Leerstetten are welcomed to celebrate with many other triathlon enthusiasts. Next to music and a speaker there will be a beer garden with drinks and barbecue specialties.

6 Intermediate Sprint at Kosta’s

Since 2013 the hotspot has been established at Gartenstraße in Roth. The athletes pass the “Intermediate Sprint at Kosta’s” behind the Greek restaurant four times. There from 10.30 a.m. on during a white sausage breakfast presenter Joe Güthlein will cheer on the runners together with many enthusiastic fans and send them towards Roth inner city and Büchenbach or towards the landing stage. They will not stop until the last runner has passed. There will be refreshments and barbecue stand as well as good music all the time.

NEW 7 Challenge Women Hot Spot

NEW: The Challenge Women Hotspot 2017 brings the ultimate kick in pink. In the middle of Roth the ladies who did a 5 km Run & Walk the day before will transmit their motivating enthusiasm directly onto the athletes. With cool music, pushing whooping and the one or other surprise in pink the last meters will be a waltz!

8 Roth, Kugelbühlplatz

Since 2010 the Sparkasse Mittelfranken-Süd transforms Kugelbühlplatz into a Hot Spot. Not only 60 employees care for nutrition for the athletes at the aid station but also presenter Alex Höhn, DJ Jens Klinger of the local carnival club and the Allersberg fire department with their barbecue specialties provide a great atmosphere until late night. Core audience from all around the world comes to Kugelbühlplatz to cheer on the athletes on the front line to create an incomparable atmosphere.

NEW 9 Germania Hot Spot

New: The airline Germania and Airport Nuremberg cheer the athletes towards the finishline. They have come so far, the rest is a catwalk! Every athlete will be supported by the fans, by the cheerleading team „Brose Bamberg” as well as music. When there’s a will there’s a way! Germania mascot Gerry will keep its wings crossed and will be ready for selfies. Moreover, there will be a Follow-Me-Car from Airport Nuremberg and Germania will have little surprises for everyone.

10 Market place of Roth

After the change of the run course the “living room” of Roth forms the new central Hot Spot. The spectators at the market place get the chance to cheer on the athletes four times to motivate them on their following kilometers of the run course. Starting from 11am until 10pm a team of presenters and a DJ will create an incredible atmosphere and provide current information of the race to the spectators. Different food trucks and the landlords of Roth will offer food and drinks while the kids can do creative activities and jump around in the bouncy castle.

11 ERDINGER Alkoholfrei PowerZone

At this piont of the race the triathletes have already done 196 kilometers on the swim, bike and run course, and they get more and more exhausted. Then at Willy-Supf-Platz right in front of the ice-cream shop Cortina an oversized blue archway appears and marks the entrance to “ERDINGER Alkoholfrei PowerZone”. There, well-known sports presenter Mike Hamel, DJane Lemongrass and the Sweet Devils, a cheerleader group from Nuremberg, are going to get the athletes fired up. All spectators who come to this hotspot can be sure to enjoy expert information on the race and great entertainment. And the Challenge participants can benefit from this exciting atmosphere as many as four times when they pass by on kilometres 11,7 km, 19,5 km, 32,1 km and 39,9.Those who know the “ERDINGER Alkoholfrei Powerzone” also know that the last athletes are celebrated with the same euphoria like the leaders. There will be food and drinks, reaching from Franconian specialties to a fresh ERDINGER wheat beer or a non-alcoholic ERDINGER.

NEW 12 Mocha Mile

NEW: Of course, at an international event the international variety may not be missing. For the first time Ditib Roth takes part and offers a culinary mile. Next to tasty original Turkish mocha – with or without sweets – turskish specialties like meatballs in white bread or sausages in white bread will be offered. Of course, vegetarians and vegans will find something like bulgur salad. Nothing stands in the way to cheer on the athletes (among other with oriental sounds). The Hot Spot can be found at Nürnberger Straße at the turning to Sandgasse.

NEW 13 Food-Truck Challenge – Goldmobil / Hardtseemafia

NEW: At the end of Sandgasse close to Roth’s inner city and still directly in the green countryside a beautiful beer garden will be put up directly at the riverside. Just a short walk from the market place along the run course direction Büchenbach you can find the club site of Spvgg Roth with its Hot Spot. All athletes cross a bridge above the beer garden four times. From 12 pm to 3 pm every 10 to 20 minutes a leading athlete will walk by. Of course, the agegrouper as well as their supporters will be supported with the same enthusiasm like the pros. With cool food trucks (smoked pulled pork, pasta, and vegan) and cold drinks everyone can relax and cheer on the athletes on the front line. A pavilion will offer protection from sun or rain. The Hardtseemafia together with the Schwabacher Goldmobil will provide a great atmosphere and rooting for every single athlete.

14 Red Bull

Again this year Red Bull is setting a Hot Spot at the run course. At the end of Büchenbach Weg the Red Bull Event Car will give the athletes the necessary kick for their slightly hilly way to Büchenbach. On the way back the athletes will be guided by music and moderation so they will head downtown in an excellent mood.

15 Skiing Club Biberttal

For the third time Skiing Club Biberttal is taking part with over 80 volunteers. With almost 500 members the skiing club is supporting the mass sport, this includes next to skiing in the winter all outdoor sports, starting from walking to running to cycling or hiking. The club itself participates with two relays and one single starter. Everything you need will be provided – including a great atmosphere!

NEW 16 Kids Hot Spot Büchenbach / Schoolyard of the ground and middle school

New: Starting from 11am there will be a lot of activities for kids: Starting from a bouncer castle, to a children’s train, button pressing, an own entrance to the run course just for kids as well as a small vehicle fleet and a lot of toys. Moreover ice cream, tasty food and cool drinks will be served. Perfect for families with kids! The Hot Spot is supported by the Ground and Middle school Büchenbach, the Montessori School Büchenbach, as well as the Protestant Day Care Center and the AWO Day Care Center. Moreover, the Children and Youth Office as well as the Child Care Center of the Municipality Büchenbach will be present.

NEW 17 Memmert Pond Turn / Rathausplatz

New: The Memmert Pond Turn around the pond of Büchenbach as second turning point of the new Challenge run course is another highlight. Starting from 11am until the very last runner many volunteers of the local clubs create an unforgettable experience at kilometers 15,7 and 36,5 for the athletes as well as for the spectators. Every athlete will stop by four times. Furthermore, the municipal administration as well as sponsor and name giver Memmert support the activities at this Hot Spot. The spectators can even experience a holiday feeling – a beach bar by the local sports club and beach chairs will be provided so you can cheer on the athletes in a great mood. The offer reaches from the legendary Langos to cocktails, donuts, barbecue specialties as well as coffee and cake. Live DJ “Mike Hotten” will heat up the place.
